About Anoushka

I didn't think about being a psychotherapist when I was younger but I did think. A lot. And feel. A lot. And this existential need to ask why and how led me into the world of psychotherapy from an early age. I read books about the self, the mind and what happens to a person when the self and the mind feel at odds.

The world of film and television presented many opportunities for catharsis and expression. I sought solace in stories with characters who were similar to me, and revelled in the possibilities for different endings.

As a television researcher and presenter I looked for the layers underneath but I still struggled with how to be seen in the world. Becoming an actress was the next step and a revelation. When the lights go up, who am I?

I am a writer. Amongst other things. I find it healing. The arts dominated my working life for about twenty years and having made the transition into psychotherapy and counselling I view creativity as an essential part of the individual. I use my creativity in my work with my clients and am a better therapist because of it.
